FLEXI PENCIL

Helloooooooooooooooooooo!

I went Dicks Smith today and I bought a "Solar Module 2.0 Volt 200mA", in other words, a small solar panel for my SRP.
It was 15 bucks. There goes my weeks lunch money. D:

Anyways, here's a picture:

Voltage (Voc): 2 Volts.
Current - (Isc) Max: 200mA
Outer Dimensions: 95 x 65 x 6 mm (LxWxH)

Helloooooooooooooooo!

On my last blog, I told y'all that I have decided to do question 4. But I haven't really explained why I chose that, and why I didn't choose the others. Lemme just analyse these by naming the independent and dependent variables and also listing the things I should consider if doing that question.

Key: the pink underlined words = independent variable
the green italiced words = dependent variable

1) What is the effect of the temperature on the solubility of salt?
⚨ amount of solvent
⚨ type of salt
⚨ the amount of air pressure

2) Is the extension of a spring in proportion to the force applied on it?
⚨ different types of weights (5, 10 kg)
⚨ material/type of spring (if it's tight, or loose/floppy)
⚨ where to attach the top end of the spring to
⚨ define extension (length of the spring after hanging the weight minus the length of the spring without any weight hanging from it)
⚨ weights must be within reasonable range (can't be too big, otherwise it'll break the spring, and can't be too small, otherwise it won't cause any changes to the spring)
⚨ measurement (cm)

3) Does the surface of a piece of bread with jam on one side always faces downwards when the bread falls?
⚨ height of fall
⚨ weight of bread
⚨ amount of jam
⚨ surface area of bread
⚨ use same type of jam and bread

4) What colour of light will produce the maximum amount of electricity in a solar panel?
⚨ type of solar panel
⚨ surface area of solar panel
⚨ angle of incidence of light
⚨ amount of light
⚨ type of colour filters
⚨ type of voltmeter and ammeter to measure electricity generated

5) Will the presence of impurities affect the melting point of ice?
⚨ type of impurities
⚨ amount of ice
⚨ shape of ice (ice cube, ice sphere)
⚨ surface area of ice
⚨ type of thermometer
⚨ amount of impurities
⚨ room temperature

6) Does the weight of a pendulum ball affect the number of swings per minute?
⚨ type of pendulum ball (metal, wood)
⚨ shape of pendulum ball (cube, sphere, triangular prism)
⚨ weight of pendulum ball
⚨ length of the string attached to the ball
⚨ height of pendulum ball raised
⚨ type of stop watch (digital, analogue clock)
⚨ environment (steady or not? wind or not?)

Helloooooooooo!
Today I discussed about my SRP to my dad
since he is the smart one in the house.
Anyways, I came up with several topics/questions for the SRP.

1) What is the effect of the temperature on the solubility of salt?
2) Is the extension of a spring in proportion to the force applied on it?
3) Does the surface of a piece of bread with jam on one side always faces downwards when the bread falls?
4) What colour of light will produce the maximum amount of electricity in a solar panel?
5) Will the presence of impurities affect the melting point of ice?
6) Does the weight of a pendulum ball affect the number of swings per minute?

Then, I asked Ms Zhang for her opinion about the topics I came up with.
And she said that she prefers the solar panel question.

But my dad thinks that the pendulum ball question is best. I even found a picture on google on how to set it up.

I trust Ms Zhang's opinion better, so I guess I'll go with the solar panel question then. :)

I found this site on how to make a solar panel:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Small-Solar-Panel/

Not sure if I'll use that site, just throwing it in here. I'll probably just buy it from Dick Smiths, if it's not too expensive. Remind me to search the price of solar panels later.

Bye'
